So, what is the field research methodology used by the Archeology of the Frivolous team? In plain English: how do you go about finding Scritti Politti information and goodies? If you are in England, you're in luck since Scritti is essentially a Britain-based band despite having two New Yorkers--David Gamson and Fred Maher--as band members during the Scrits' most commercially successful phase (1983-1988).
So even in NYC, where AoF used to be stationed, goodies were hard to come by even at the height of Scritti fame in '85 and '88, and pathetically rare now that Scritti has been in hibernation for over seven years...Jesus weep!
Thankfully, Green seem to have finally come out again. Rumours have it that an album is ready for release in early 1999. Originally scheduled for February release, it's been delayed by distribution logistics in the US. So presumably there will be as much fanfares in the US as during the height of Scritts' international popularity. Another promising fact or two for the US-bound fans: David Gamson, who has remained in the US ever since Green went back to Wales, produced the album and the band expects the album to be better received in the US than in the UK. Fingers crossed for you guys there.
But until then, on with business...
